Back to the Grind!

Well I survived my first week back to work! It sure was nice having Thursday off for the holiday though, because I sure was missing my lil guy! So far Paige & Jake have stayed with Rod while I was at work, but today was kinda hard for me, since it was Jake's first day at the sitters. I love Esther and I think she is great with kids, but it was so hard to walk out her door this morning! Paige was literally pushing on me saying "You can leave now mom!" I'm really gonna miss just holding Jake all day long, but I guess it will make our weekends all that much more special!

Portrait Innovations 11/3/10

We took the kids down to Bloomington and got their pictures taken. The ladies did an amazing job and got both of them to smile! It was so hard to pic my favorites, but here are a few.

Doctors and Pumpkins!

Yesterday's visit to the doctor took forever! Our appt. was at 9:30 and we didn't get home until  noon! Since we've had Jake everytime we've gone to that hospital, whether it's an appointment for Jake or myself, it's taken literally all day! They got a new computer system, so they can keep all the records, instead of having paper files anymore. I thought the purpose was to make things easier, but it's just not working, it's really ridiculous!
Anyway, Jake went in for his 2 month check up and he weighs 13 lbs. 10.5 oz.(90th percentile) and was 23.4 inches long (70th percentile). The inside of his nose is really inflamed and swollen, so he got saline nose drops he gets twice a day and a nose spray that he gets before bedtime. Hopefully, that will make is lil nose all better! Doc was also a little concerned with his fat rolls on his legs. Apparently one leg has one more fat roll than the other leg and this is an early sign of a hip problem. She said if it's not better by his 4 month appointment that she will issue an x-ray on his hips. :(   Jake still has one testicle that is swollen, but she didn't seem to concerned with that, she said it will usually go down by his first birthday. Other than that he is a healthy boy!

Paige on the other hand, had broken out with a rash on her face 3 days ago, luckily I took her with because she has Impetigo. Basically they are just little red dots on her face, but it spreads quickly. So far she hasn't complained about any itching, but she is not very fond of the cream I have to put on her face 3 times a day!

Last night we carved our pumpkins. Daddy made the big scary one! and I made mine and Paige's. Paige is so girly and hates to get her hands dirty, so God forbid she put her hand inside that pumpkin and yank the guts out! She just told me what shapes to make the eyes, nose, etc... LOL!!

Grandma Peg & Grandpa Stubby took Paige to Betty Murphy's Annual Pumpkin Carving Party, but of course Grandpa had to carve the pumpkins! Paige got an award for her kitchen pumpkin and Grandpa was so creative carving Jake's name in his!

Rader Family Farm

We went to Rader Farms in Bloomington to get pumpkins and to let Paige play and see the animals. She had a blast playing and we all got to pick out a pumpkin, even Jake got a mini one!

2 weeks Old

God Bless the nurses who actually made me get up and out of bed to move around this time, after my first c-section with Paige I never got up hardly until the day I went home. I could hardly move and was SOOO Sore, this time was MUCH different and I was walking the halls the very next day after I had Jake. I am very thankful because with Paige at home this time, I didn't know how I would be able to take care of her when I got home, luckily this time my recovery went so much faster! I'm still a little sore, but feeling pretty good most of the time and I'm actually doing stuff around the house already. Although, I can tell when I do too much!

Jake is doing great, he was a little jaundice, but he is fine now! He had an issue with his belly button cord falling off, I forget what the Doctor called it, but basically it was healing itself too much, and it just kept getting bigger and bigger. So she had to burn the inside of his belly button to make it go back down. She just did it yesterday, so it's oozing a little bit today, but should be better in a few days.  Also, he has one testicle that is swollen, it's pretty common, and should go away by the time he is 1 years old, if not then he might have to have surgery to drain the fluid out, but it's vary rare that the fluid wouldn't go away by itself.

Paige is adjusting quite well, she loves giving Jake kisses and always asks to hold him. She even likes to help feed him his bottles and throw away dirty diapers. I think she is gonna be a very good Big Sister! She has her moments though when she wants to climb up in the chair with Jake and I, which I can't say bothers me at all!
She is still going to daycare a few days a week, I'd rather her have fun with the other kids than sitting at home all day.

Rod is back to work, unfortunately! I really liked having him at home! He is such a good daddy and has done a wonderful job helping me out!

Rest in Peace Grandpa!

July 20th the good Lord decided to take Grandpa Meier and free him of all his pain. It's been difficult for the whole family. I'm sure tomorrow & Saturday will be even harder, but we are glad he is no longer suffering! We will hold on to the dear memories we have of him and we will be forever grateful he was a part of our lives. A good man he was and he will be deeply missed! I find a bit of comfort thinking Grandpa Meier along with Grandma & Grandpa Broerman and my Grandma & Grandpa Ehrhardt are going to be the first ones to hold baby-to-be before he is graciously delivered to us here on Earth. Maybe that might seem like nonsense to some, but I like to think it's true :)

Grandpa's obituary can be viewed at the link below.

Bye Bye Sail Boats!

We stripped the sailboat wallpaper in our spare bedroom and are going to paint it and move Paige into that room, so baby-to-be can have the smaller bedroom which is right next to Rod and I's. Surprisingly, we found some lovely artwork and and info about the McCain family who lived in the house previously. There was also a note stating that Mildred Walker who lived in the house, back in 1904 also left a note on the wall, but we have not found that.

Popular Clothes: Keds, Swatch, Guess, Soon, Esprit

This one says: They put a picture of the family in the closet between the wall and baseboard. However, we did not remove the baseboards, so the pic will remain there!

This one lists the ages of the children: 7, 12, & 14
