Chicago

Wednesday we went to Chicago for a mini vacation. We took my niece Michelle with us and I'm so glad we did! She is so good with Paige and can keep her occupied quite well! We went to Shedd Aquarium, where we stood in line for 2 hours. Once we got in, we had a great time. We saw the dolphin show and watched Happy Feet in 4D. Paige, along with many other screaming toddlers didn't appreciate the wind and water being blown into their faces! However, Paige did seem to enjoy everything else and loved all the fishys! Both the girls got t-shirts and Paige even got her very own purple stuffed Nemo! After that we checked into our hotel and then headed to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner. Paige and Michelle both loved the restaurant! It was expensive, but well worth the experience!  After dinner, we went to Navy Pier to the Build a Bear store and Paige built a puppy, that she named Spot and dressed in Pink! She had a great time at the store then we headed outside to watch the fireworks. After fireworks, went headed back to the hotel, but our GPS didn't work very well around the L, so it kept loosing the satellite. Once we realized we were in a "Not so good neighborhood", we turned around, and eventually found the hotel and we all went to bed. It had been a long day! Paige fell out of bed in the middle of the night, but it didn't seem to faze her much. I just picked her up and she went right back to sleep.

Thursday after we all got ready we checked out and went to IHOP for breakfast, not my best idea ever! Lets just say we were the minority and the graffiti on the bathroom walls was quite colorful! After that we went to Lincoln Zoo. Paige fell asleep as soon as we got there so we sat down and had a snack and waited for her to wake up. Once she awoke, we looked at all the animals, which she really seemed to enjoy. Before we left, we stopped at the Carousel and went for a spin! On the way home we stopped in Joliet at Chucke E Cheese for dinner. The dinner wasn't very tasty, but she seemed to enjoy the rides and games!

Friday, Paige went to daycare and Rod & I went golfing with Jerold & Karen at Wolf Creek. It was a golf outing to benefit Futures in Pontiac. I tee'd off a few times, but mostly just putted. It was fun, but a little too warm! Afterwards, Rod was gonna cook at the Sportsmen's Club for the Leroy Drive Inn, but they had plenty of cooks in the kitchen and his lack of sleep over the past few days was catching up to him, so we rented movies and Paige stayed the night at Peg & Stubby's.

Saturday morning, I picked Paige up, of course she didn't sleep very well at Grandma & Grandpa's, so she came home and took at 3 hour nap. Then we headed to Bloomington to take my dad and step-mom out for dinner at Logan's. The 18th was both of their birthdays and then of course fathers day was Sunday. So it was nice to spend a little time with them and catch up. We also stopped at Best Buy and bought Rod his father's day present, a stereo for the garage.

Sunday, Rod had some guys over to play poker on the deck of the garage. Since it was his day and that's what he wanted to do I couldn't much complain. Paige and I went swimming at Peg & Stubby's while they were playing.
